Yoga Retreat Costa Rica  March 14 – March 20, 2010

“When the body is cleansed, the mind purified & the senses controlled, [then] joyful awareness needed to realize the inner self also comes”

(BK II, Sutra 41)

You are invited to participate in the 3rd annual Costa Rican Yoga Retreat on the beautiful and remote Osa Peninsula.

This year the retreat will be held at the Black Turtle Lodge with Nico and Maureen as our hosts.

The Black Turtle Lodge is situated on the Gulfo Dulce, which is one of only four tropical fiords in the world. It is home to pods of wild dolphins, the nesting place of sea turtles and the winter waters for the whales.

From the lodge, it is possible to see a vast variety of birds including the scarlet macaws, lots of the wildlife highlighted by a resident family of howler monkeys and an assortment of other mammals and amphibians

The beach is only footsteps away. The waves are usually gentle and inviting. It appeals to nature lovers for it's immense beauty and peacefulness.

Your stay will be in one of the tree house cabinas which are situated 15 feet in the air amongst the tree canopies. Each have a private veranda surrounded by a tropical garden with private outdoor bathroom and shower. The rooms are clean and comfortable and take in breathtaking views of the surrounding jungle. You will be swayed to sleep by the tropical ocean breezes.

Yoga teacher, Patricia Dewar, is a graduate of the Advanced Studies Program at the Yoga Room in Berkeley, California, and has more than 20 years of practicing and teaching yoga. Her style of teaching is individualized and Iyengar based. The focus is upon breath and mindul movement. Her ability to see and understand bodies enables participants to discover their own trouble spots as well as guide them with helpful cues towards an integrated experience of each pose. Her diverse approach also includes a gentle movement flow blended with the contemplative aspects of Yin Yoga. The aim of each class is to evoke an inner joy so that each of us may live as fully as possible, each moment heart-felt.

Her Yoga Certifications include:
Graduate of Yoga Room's Advanced Studies Program with Donald Moyer and Mary Lou Weprin (Berkeley, California)
E-RYT-500( Experienced Yoga Teacher with the International Yoga Alliance-500 hours)
Relax and Renew Trainer (Judith Lasater, USA)
Critical Alignment Yoga Therapy (Gert van Leeuwen, Holland)
Patricia is also deeply appreciative of a number of other teachers; Father Joe Pereira (India), Gay White (California), Lynne Minton (Alaska) who have contributed to her learning as well as constantly being inspired by students of all levels.

Co-teacher:

Special Guest Sally Power, Patricia's sister, is also willing to participate and share with us her knowledge of the human body. Sally is a registered massage therapist with over 15 years experience. Moreover, she holds certification in many diverse areas of body knowledge, ie, Craniosacral Therapy, Body Talk, Quantum Touch, Lymphatic Drainage, etc. Currently, she is studying Osteopathy.

The sisters share a common theme of how an educated body promotes optimal health. They both have an appreciation of alignment, physiology, and the intent of awakening the inner self. Their shared dream is to make yoga accessible to all.
